Labor Law Posters
Once selected, the employee is redirected to a page where they will see all federal, state, and local posters relevant to their home address zip code.
From this page, every federal, state and local poster is available to view.
Posters with a small icon in the lower left-hand corner denote posters with information that needs to be obtained directly from the employer, and are therefore blank in some areas.
It is the employers responsibility to provide this information to employees; this might be managed via a shared file folder location, email, or other means.
For example, in the screenshot below, the Massachusetts Unemployment Assistance poster shows the icon in the lower left corner.
Digital posters do not replace the need for physical posters to be posted in the workplace; instead, they ensure compliance for remote, off-site employees, or where states require that employees have electronic access to posters (e.g., New York state).
Frequently Asked Questions
Question | Response |
I am normally in charge of distributing compliance notices to employees, how do I access these notices digitally? |
Anyone enrolled in ESS can easily access the Labor Law ePoster Center via the Labor Law Posters card on the dashboard. These users will see posters that are applicable to them and their location thereby eliminating the need to distribute notices. Anyone with access to the Labor Law ePoster Center can access the posting requirements for any location by searching/filtering by zip code or State. If a notice requires the employer to complete information, the notice will have to be downloaded, filled in, and stored in a shared location accessible by the employee and/or emailed to the employee. |
What about employees who don’t work from home? |
If an employee reports to the business’ location for their workday, in most states, they will not need to be provided with digital access to posters. Currently, New York is the only state that requires workers to have digital access to labor law posters, regardless of remote work status. |
I’m already signed up for Checkwriters’ poster program, what is the difference? |
Up until now, the Checkwriters poster program has only been for physical posters in the workplace. This service does not offer physical posters, only digital poster access. If you’re interested in more information on physical posters, please email postercompliance@checkwriters.com. |
Can I have just this service for labor poster compliance? |
Maybe. If your entire work force is remote, then yes. If you have a location employees report to, then you are still required to have physical posters in a place where employees regularly congregate (like a cafeteria or break room). |
