01/05/2026 Release Notes: Auto Update Employee Pay Grade
These release notes document improvements to the Checkwriters software released on January 5, 2026.
For companies using Checkwriters' Position Override configuration item, we have released an improvement that automatically updates an employee’s Pay Grade after a user changes the employee’s Position. This will only update the pay grade on the employee’s active Base Rate.
Note: If you are unsure whether your company uses the Position Override configuration item or would like to learn more about it, Contact Checkwriters Client Support at support@checkwriters.com for more information.
These improvements have been applied to the following Checkwriters HR Admin module pages:
- Manage Employees → Employee Center → Information (tab) → Departments (tab)
- Hire Employees → New Hire Center → Employer Onboarding (tab) → Departments (tab)
When a user changes an employee’s Position, their Pay Grade [located on the Payroll (tab) → Rate (tab)] will automatically update to reflect the Position’s configurations.


Note: Configure positions by navigating to Company (module) → Company Setup → Positions.
